As a Lean Blackbelt, Mental coach, trainer, and process facilitator, Jaap has filled his backpack with tools over the past few years to help CEOs and senior leadership teams make a difference. With the advent of AI, a new accelerator has been added to this.
Jaap has his own Gamebreakers podcast; no macho talk or management jargon. Instead, a brutally honest conversation about moments when his conversation partners hit a wall hard themselves, and what they would do differently, smarter, or precisely the opposite next time.
Today, Jaap uses his experience as a former Director of People, Culture and Development & coach to help (technical) family businesses grow sustainably. As a former director, he knows how difficult it is to execute a plan while simultaneously running a business. He is an expert in creating strategies that work, building buy-in for these plans, and relentlessly pursuing and finalizing the Who, What, When. "Check" is his go-to word for the ultimate verification that everyone is on board and that the agreement is clear. Summarizing, visualizing, and simplifying complex situations to their core based on intuition is another of Jaap's strengths. He uses his background in Lean/Agile methodologies enriched with AI to achieve operational excellence.


Professional Highlights
Jaap started his career as a consultant at a large international ICT service provider. As a young, ambitious manager, he was inspired by Covey and the Lean philosophy. After obtaining his Lean Black Belt certifications, he focused on a role as a Lean Consultant. As part of professional improvement programs (by McKensie and implemented at large organizations), he enhanced his skills as a process improver. A phone call from a former client prompted him to switch to the installation sector. The dream of his own consultancy organization was the driving force. Making a difference, with more room for the human side of change, was a driver. As owner of BIMpuls®, he initially developed training courses and later multi-year transition programs. With the move to Lomans Totaal Installateur (a family business with 400 employees), he stepped out of the role of consultant and into the role of Director of People, Culture & Development. A role in which he steered the professionalization of the organization. As director, he missed the diversity of multiple assignments and decided to start working as a consultant again. After making a round of calls to old clients, it was crystal clear; As a spoilsport – for CEOs and organizations that want to win – he founded Jaap de Lange & Associates.

Since 2014, Jaap has been helping CEOs make a difference in organizations.

Personal Highlights
Jaap lives in Amersfoort with his 3 children and partner. "Make it count" is Jaap's life motto. It is a translation of the drive to combine pleasure and achievement. Not an empty slogan, but given and lived by. Jaap is the father of a son with multiple disabilities. When you can no longer do anything, are completely dependent, and yet enjoy every day… Then you know and feel that you “must” make a contribution; this is what "Make it count" stands for. So, not messing around, but really going for it in everything.
